Plants for A Future is probably one of the oldest and most mature Forest gardens in Europe, as well as the UK. People have come from many different parts of the world to see it.
There is a demonstration area, which was planted out specifically for educational purposes. We also have orchards, soft fruit areas, an arboretum, and of course, a Native Woodland.
During a tour you will be given a short explanation about the ethos of the place, including the ecology of Forest gardening and Re-wilding. This will be followed by a guided tour of many of the plants we are growing, together with tastes of many of them. You get to see both the organised managed areas; and the wild areas.
A tour is an excellent way to learn about the Land, the useful plants and the methods of growing them. The Land is also very different at different times of year, and there is a succession of different foods that come ready throughout the year. You will be given tastes of the different greens and fruits that are available when you visit.
If you want to start your own project, if you are interested in how to grow food in harmony with Nature; or simply, if you are interested in useful plants, then why not get in touch to arrange a tour?
A tour is also a really good way to get a feel for the Land and to connect with Nature.
Tours generally last 2 -3 hours. You can either attend a pre-organised tour or request one for yourself or a group.
